Christoph Blocher stated that the 76 year old film iconoclast should have been warned before his arrest in Zurich. While Blocher agrees that Swiss law was not broken, because the case is clear cut, he also states that the “whole mess could have been avoided” if Polanski was given a warning letter before entering Switzerland for the award ceremony he was to be lauded at.

One of the things the makes the arrest of Roman Polanski so regrettable is the fact that it has nothing to do with the ‘victim’ of his crime. Samantha Geimer has publicly stated that she never wanted to file charges against Polanski and wants the charges dropped. The Los Angeles DA has other ideas though and they have nothing to do with the will of the parties involved.
